Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for taking part in the Beaconsfield Parking Opinion Survey in January/February 2017.
Following a review and meeting of the Beaconsfield Local Area Forum, the Parking Sub Group and County Councillor Alan Walters, an Officer Decision report has been prepared and signed off by Buckinghamshire County Council’s Head of Highways.
The report – https://democracy.buckscc.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=6835 – briefly summarises the Opinion Survey and sets out the way forward.
At the request of the Parking Sub Group meeting, we are preparing proposals to address some of the issues raised in the Opinion Survey regarding junctions and to improve access along some roads. We intend formally advertising these proposals in late August or early September – for a minimum of 21 days –with Notices being posted on site and letters posted to those fronting the restrictions.
In order to address some of the more complex parking issues raised in the Opinion Survey, we will be working with the Parking Sub Group during the autumn period to explore & develop further proposals.
If you wish to receive mailings regarding this ongoing work, please provide us with your e-mail address here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/5ZTMPFQ

Cyclists, curb your stupidity.
I notice that collisions between cyclists and pedestrians have increased by 50 per cent. Up from 274 in 2009 to 408 in 2015. As a cyclist, I’m duty bound to point out this apparently significant increase comes from a very low base. It is also surely consistent with the considerable – and welcome – renaissance in two-wheeled transportation- in recent years.
And yet I can’t help but notice that some of my fellow cyclists are utter prats. Jumping red lights and ignoring
one-way signals are one thing – if you’re putting only yourself at risk, that’s your lookout. Mounting the
pavement and scaring – or injuring – old ladies, however, is unforgivable. Yes, our city streets are still inexcusably dangerous for those of us who choose to negotiate them by bike.
But the solution is not to abandon the road and make others vulnerable instead.
